CGCF Secretary-general Li Nuyun Meets the counselor of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea stationing in China


On February 24, Counselor Chengzhe Xu on behalf of Embassy of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in China visited China Green Carbon Foundation. Dr. Li Nuyun, Secretary General of CGCF, granted an interview to the visitors in State Forestry Administration, P.R. China.

Mr.Xu introduced the forestry development situation of North Korea. He revealed that, in last 90 century, some area in North Korea had a lot of sever deforestation course by low livelihood pressure. In recent years, with the national economy growing, president Jeong eun Kim highlight the role of forest development. In this case,  North Korean began to pay great attention to afforestation and the forest conservation. He added, through CGCF’s website, the embassy of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in China came to know CGCF is the first and the only national public non-profits fund targeting on addressing climate change by increasing carbon sink and reducing carbon emission in China. CGCF has been executing lots of carbon forest projects which mitigate and adapt to  climate change appropriately and accumulating various experiences on it. After these years work at home and abroad, CGCG has been widely known to the international society. Therefore, as the friendly neighbor, North Korea hoped to learn relevant experiences and project models and explore a further coperation so as to improving North Korean Ecological Environment as well as make a contribution to combating climate change.

Dr. Li Nuyun expressed the warm welcome to the visitors and introduced basic situation of forestry development and forestry combating climate change in China, further to the establishment background of CGCF, as wel as CDM project and verification carbon trade in China.  Whats more, according to the present condition of forestry development in North Korea, Dr.Li presented some advices to carry out forest carbon sink project effectively and raise the low-carbon knowledge training and disseminati.

The delegation expressed the sincere appreciation to the introduction and practical suggestions from Dr.Li. They were looked forward to the further discussions and help to incubate carbon forestry development in North Korea and take part in the global progress of combating climate change.

This meeting was proposed by the Embassy of Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the People's Republic of China and approved by State Forestry Administration, P.R. China.
