2016 'Carbon-neutral' G20 summit Project

HANGZHOU - The eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou was poised to offer the world the greenest G20 summit through a tree-planting project to offset carbon emissions during the meeting, underlining the country's commitment to green growth.

Referring to the 6674 tons of carbon emission contributed by the summit, the project, which is organized by China Green Carbon Foundation aiming to plant more than 22 hectares of trees in the Hangzhou suburbs in 2017, within 20 years, was expected to absorb all greenhouse gases discharged during the summit, thus making the Hangzhou gathering the first G20 leaders' meeting to implement the concept of "carbon neutrality". It also testifieed to China's commitment to green growth and match the theme of "Toward an Innovative, Invigorated, Interconnected and Inclusive World Economy".

2014 'Carbon-neutral' APEC Economic Leaders’Meeting Project

In November 2014, APEC Leaders gathered by Yanqi Lake in Beijing for the 22nd AELM. Referring to the 6,371 tons of CO2 emitted during the 2014 APEC meeting, the 85 hectares Plantation project, which is organized by China Green Carbon Foundation,was established in Beijing and Hebei province in 2015 and was expected to absorb all greenhouse gases discharged during the meeting within 20 years, thus making the APEC Economic Leaders’meeting implement the concept of "carbon neutrality" and be the first carbon neutral APEC meeting ever.

2010 'Carbon-neutral' UNFCCC Tianjin Conference Project

In November 2010, UNFCCC Tianjin Conference was hosted in China. Referring to the 12,000 tons of CO2 emitted during the conference, the 333 hectares Plantation project, which is organized by China Green Carbon Foundation,was established in Shanxi province in 2011 and was expected to absorb all greenhouse gases discharged during the meeting within 10 years, thus making the conference implement the concept of "carbon neutrality" .
